Gentian
The Gentian flower is another of the 400 species which belongs to the Gentianaceae family like the Eustoma. The Gentian was named after the Gentius, 6th century king of Illyria, who found the roots of the yellow gentian flower which had a healing effect on his malaria-stricken troops. The plant has trumpet shaped flowers which come in a variety of many different colours which include deep blue to yellows, whites and reds. The Gentian likes to be planted in full or partial sunlight with well drained soil and can grow from 10 - 18 inches in height. |
