Dock Plant
Dock comes from the Rumex family which have many different varieties which are native to the UK. There are about 200 species of the Rumex which include Rumex obtusifolius which was once known as the Butter Dock because it was once used to wrap and conserve butter. Some of these herbal species of Rumex are seen as weeds but many produce very beautiful flowers. Dock leaves are poisonous to sheep and cattle.
