Brassica oleracea
otherwise known as wild cabbage which is mostly found to have grown on the coastal areas of Europe south and west. The Brassica oleracea has been used as a vegetable for more than 2500 years and has the same characteristics as of other vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli and brussel sprouts which have all come from the same one species.  
The Brassica oleracea a self fertile plant that is not frost tender and can grow to 1.2m.The flowers which usually flower from the months May to August, are hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) then seeds begin to ripen from July to September.
